Borivali- Virar 5th & 6th line Dec 25 update

26-km Borivali–Virar 5th & 6th line project is being implemented by MRVC at cost of Rs 2,184 crore
Station-wise Ground Status as per MRVC (Dec 2025)

Borivali

  • No remodelling required
  • Existing slow lines continue
  • New lines branch westward beyond station
    Status: No major work inside station limits

Dahisar

  • New platforms planned west side (slightly north)
  • Retaining wall & earthwork started
  • Dahisar Nalla Bridge 66: foundation work underway
    Status: Foundations and earthwork in progress

Dahisar–Mira Road section

  • Fastest-moving stretch of the project
  • Forest clearance already obtained
  • Heavy earthwork and formation advancing
    Status: Leading section overall

Mira Road

  • Two new platforms directly west of existing PF-1
  • Station improvement & elevated deck works ongoing
    Status: Initial platform and station works visible

Bhayandar

  • One of two stations with major remodelling
  • New west-side terminating platform planned
  • Platform re-assignment for slow, fast, and new lines
  • Elevated deck under construction
    Status: Active remodelling and structural works

Bhayandar Creek

  • Bridge 73 (North Basin Creek):
    • Well foundations started
    • Old historic bridge dismantling underway
      Status: Foundation stage (time-critical structure)

Panju Island

  • Clearing and grubbing underway
  • No road access; contractor planning barge/ferry logistics
    Status: Preparatory works in progress

Naigaon

  • Bridge 75 (North Basin Creek): pile foundations started from north end
  • Casting yard planned here for major creek bridges
  • FOB extensions underway
    Status: Foundations and earthwork progressing

Vasai Road

  • Second station with major remodelling
  • Platform 1 to shift ~8 m west
  • New slow-line platforms planned west of PF-2
  • Old road overbridge demolished; new ROB planned
    Status: Demolition completed; remodelling preparation ongoing

Nalasopara

  • New west-side home platform planned
  • Existing PF-1 to become island platform
  • Piling machines already deployed
    Status: Foundation works underway

Virar

  • One additional platform for new lines
  • Further platforms planned under Virar–Dahanu project
    Status: Planning stage; execution linked with adjoining projects

Overall Snapshot

  • Earthwork and foundations advancing well
  • Creek bridges (73 & 75) will decide timelines
  • Limited land acquisition; relocations mainly at Vasai & Nalasopara
  • Expected commissioning: End-2028 (possible earlier if bridge works stay on track)
