Western Railway’s 69th Railway Week Award function was held on Tuesday, 16th April, 2024 at Yashwantrao Chavan Auditorium, Nariman Point. 

The occasion also marked the release of a book, titled “The Lines of Prosperity” authored by wellknown author, journalist and historian Shri Rajendra B. Aklekar, who was also present. The book was released by GM Shri Ashok Kumar Misra, Shri Prakash Butani, Addl. General Manager, Shri Shalabh Goel, Sr. Dy. General Manager, Shri S.K. Albela, Principal Chief Personnel Officer and Shri Sumit Thakur, Chief Public Relations Officer. The book depicts the golden history of Western Railway, the formation of BB&CI Railway and the expansion of railways in the western part of the country which have been aesthetically woven into different chapters. The history of the Headquarters building of Western Railway has also been elaborated. This book is an attempt to immortalize the celebrations of the completion of 125 years of the Western Railway Headquarters Building at Churchgate which were held in the month of January 2024. On this occasion, cultural programmes were also held followed by screening of a short film focusing on the accomplishments & achievements of Western Railway. This award function is held every year to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of WR’s team of officers and employees who are always ready to face challenges. During the Railway Week, Efficiency Shields are presented to Divisions/Units in various categories. On this momentous occasion, General Manager, Shri Ashok Kumar Misra conferred 27 Efficiency Shields to the Divisions & the Units which have been adjudged the most efficient in various fields, including the prestigious & coveted General Manager’s Overall Efficiency Shield for the year   202324. Ahmedabad Division bagged GM’s Overall Efficiency Shield for 2023-24 for best overall performance. The Best Improvement Shield was awarded to Bhavnagar Division while the Runners-up Shield was awarded to Mumbai Central Division.
